MODPATH is a particle tracking code that is used in conjunction with MODFLOW. Using a flow field computed by MODFLOW, MODPATH can track a set of fictitious particles to simulate the movement of contaminants starting from user-defined spill locations.
The backward tracking option in MODPATH can be used to delineate capture zones for wells for a given time period.
