To create Annotations in SMS by doing the following:

1. Create annotation objects.
The following annotation objects can be created:
1. Create text objects.
  1. Select the Create Text Object tool and click on the area in the Graphic Window where text is to be added.
  2. Select Screen space or world space if this is the first annotation object being created.
  3. In the Text Properties dialog, enter text to be displayed and select the text font, color, background, and border.
2. Create a scale bar.
  1. Select the Create Scale Bar tool and click on the area in the Graphic Window where text is to be added.
  2. Select Screen space or world space if this is the first annotation object being created.
  3. In the Scale Bar Properties dialog, enter text to be displayed and select the text font, color, background, border, and anchor positioning.
3. Create a north arrow.
  1. Select the Create Annotation North Arrow File:Tool NorthArrow.png tool then click and drag an area in the Graphic Window for the north arrow.
  2. Use the Open dialog to select and open a north arrow image.
4. Create oval or rectangle objects.
  1. Select the Create Oval Object File:Tool Oval.png tool or the Create Rectangle Object File:Tool Rectangle.png tool then click and drag an area in the Graphic Window for the rectangle or oval.
  2. Select Screen space or world space if this is the first annotation object being created.
  3. In the Rectangle/Oval Properties dialog, define the line style, width, and color along with specifying a fill color or no fill color.
2. Edit annotation objects.
