Tutorials & Sample Problems

As stated on the BASEMENT website[1]:

Basement is a numerical simulation software developed at the Laboratory of Hydraulics, Hydrology and Glaciology (VAW) of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) at Zurich, Switzerland. The purpose of the software is to provide a software tool for numerical modeling of environmental flow and natural hazard events.

Features

BASEMENT consists of the following numerical subsystems

  • BASEchain – the one dimensional numerical tool enables the simulation of river reaches (based on cross sections) with respect to sediment transport. A coupling with the 2d tool is foreseen
  • BASEplane – The two dimensional numerical tool enables the simulation of river reaches as well as flood plains (based on a digital terrain model) with respect to sediment transport
  • BASEspace (planned) – The three dimensional numerical tool for the simulation of local flow fields (based on spatial geometry) with respect to sediment transport. A coupling with the 2d tool is foreseen.

Graphical Interface

BASEMENT uses the Generic Model Graphical Interface.
