The more significant new features in Arc Hydro Groundwater 2.4.0 are listed below.

Arc GIS 10 Compatibility

Arc Hydro Groundwater 2.4.0 will now work with either ArcGIS 10 or previous versions of 9.3. There are two separate installs, depending on which version of ArcGIS you are using.

General Features

Prerequisites

  • Arc Hydro and the ApFramework utilities are no longer a prerequisite to install and use Arc Hydro Groundwater.
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 is required.

Arc Hydro Groundwater Environment Settings and Configuration File

The Arc Hydro Groundwater toolkit has been simplified by removing the geoprocessing environment settings and need to create or load a groundwater configuration file. You no longer need to use the configuration file or check the environment settings before running any of the Groundwater geoprocessing tools.

Groundwater Analyst

Various changes and enhancements were added.

Configuration Tools Removed

The Create Groundwater Config and Open Groundwater Config geoprocessing tools were removed. These are no longer used starting with this version of Arc Hydro Groundwater.

Toolbar Changes

The toolbar was simplified to reflect the change in prerequisites.

Make Time Series Statistics

A minor bug fix was added.

HGU Color Manager

The HGU Color Manager will now remember color selections between sessions in Arc Map by saving the information to the HydrogeologicUnit table.

Time Series Grapher

Changes were made in the setup to better remember changes that are made.

Subsurface Analyst

Various bug fixes are included, along with enhancements to the Borehole editor.

Rasters to GeoSections and Rasters to GeoVolumes Tools

Minor bug fixes were added to the tools.

Create Borelines Tool

Better error handling was added to the tool.

Borehole Editor

The Borehole Editor now works with a selection set of features. Simply select the Point features (usually wells) of interest before opening up the Editor, and only these features will appear in the dialog. This makes the tool easier to use, as you will only see the data you want to look at or edit.

Also, when selecting on a Well in the Editor, the feature will now flash in Arc Map so you can see which feature is being edited.

The Borehole Editor can also take advantage of the HGU Color Manager, by using the same colors.

MODFLOW Analyst

Various bug fixes are included.

MF2K Error Handling

Better error handling was added to check the progress of all geoprocessing tools which rely on running the MODFLOW 2K executable. This will make sure that geoprocessing tools fail where there is a problem running MODFLOW.

Copy Outputs to Starting Heads Tool

A minor bug fix was added to the tool.

Add to Raster Series

Fixed a problem that occurred when running in Arc Map when a raster layer and feature layer with the same name are loaded and chosen as tool inputs.
