To create spectral sites in a WAM project using STWAVE, complete the following:

1. Define wave model domain.
1. Create a new STWAVE coverage.
Create a new coverage with the "STWAVE" type.
1. Create new coverage from scratch.
  1. Select Map Data in the Project Explorer and use the New Coverage right-click command.
  2. Use the New Coverage dialog to create a new coverage by selecting the desired coverage type, and naming the coverage.
2. Create new coverage from an existing coverage.
  1. Use the Duplicate command on an existing coverage. This will copy any feature objects on the coverage.
  2. Use the Rename command to give the coverage a new name.
  3. Change the coverage type.
2. Generate STWAVE grid.
1. Create grid frame.
With the STWAVE coverage active, do the following:
  1. Use the Create 2D Grid Frame SMS Create Grid Frame Tool.svg tool to define a the grid frame.
  2. Using the Select 2D Grid Frame SMS Select Grid Frame Tool.svg tool, double-click on the grid frame.
  3. In the Grid Frame Properties dialog, edit the grid frame properties and assign elevation data.
2. Convert coverage to 2D Grid.
  1. Right-click on the STWAVE coverage and select the Convert | Map → 2D Grid command.
  2. In the Grid Frame Properties dialog, review the grid frame properties and assigned elevation data.
2. Assign STWAVE input boundaries.
1. Create spectral points.
1. Create a Spectral coverage.
Create a new coverage with the "Spectral" type.
2. Create a feature point.
  1. Use the Create Feature Point Create Points Tool.svg tool to add a point where the spectral data is to be imported on the spectral coverage.
3. Assign spectral data to location.
  1. Double-click on a point in the spectral coverage using the Select Feature Point SMS Select Node Tool.svg tool.
  2. In the Spectral Energy dialog, click the Import Spectra button.
  3. In the Import Spectra dialog, select the spectral data file to assign to the point.
2. Define STWAVE spectral parameters.
  1. Select the STWAVE | Model Control menu command.
  2. Set the STWAVE Model Control to use a spectral coverage as the boundary condition.
3. Assign WAM to STWAVE.
  1. Right-click on the WAM grid and select the WAM to STWAVE command.
  2. Select the desired STWAVE grid in the WAM to STWAVE Options dialog.
